A lot has happened since I last posted a blog on this website. There are many reasons for it, one being that I have several other websites that I work on, sort of. None of them are doing me any good financially and I don’t really see them as ‘work’ at all. They are more of a hobby really.
The project of Boredom to Brilliance has gotten a bit of a rebirth lately by my participating in the Society of Lifelong Learning at the Knicely Center on Western Kentucky University’s South Campus. I am teaching a class using the book Boredom to Brilliance over 4 sessions at one and a half hours per session. So far it has gone rather well I guess. I enjoy it.
But, it is rekindling in me just how important this book is to me and also what it could mean to others, especially young people. We need to be creative as people. We need to express ourselves somehow, even if it is only us reading, seeing, or hearing it. “No matter if it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear, just sing…sing a song.” as the song says. It makes us feel better.
It is important to visit and revisit your own thoughts and for me writing on a blog is something like a performance because there is a possibility that someone else could read it. There is a bit of laying oneself bare for others to see that makes it feel a bit risky. Who knows what ire I’ll create. I hope not much.
One thing has become apparent after listening to a couple of audiobooks about Da Vinci and Beethoven. They put their ideas on paper and revisited them later using them like themes. To develop something out of an idea.
I’ve gotta go now. It is 3:30 a.m. and I am sleepy.
