The Campus of Western Kentucky University Is My Favorite Kentucky Place #1

The campus of Western Kentucky University is my favorite Kentucky place #1!  That may seem strange to some people but for me it is where I spent the greater part of my youth.  My father taught at WKU and I went to 1st and 2nd grade and graduated from WKU with a Bachelor of Music Education.  So, from the time I was 5 all the way until I left home at 24, my life was centered around this beautiful campus and the people that work and go to school there.

I never tire of going to Van Meter Hall and looking over Bowling Green and northern Warren County or sitting at the Columns at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center and watching the sun set.  There is just a great feeling on this campus, a clean and pleasant combination of buildings and nature on the hill.

My Favorite Kentucky Place Keeps Growing

WKU is a progressive university which has been going through a lot of construction and with this growth you get the feeling that everything is just vibrant.  When I go home to visit I always go to my favorite Kentucky place #1 and enjoy being on the old stomping grounds.

WKU is on a hill but not in the mountains!  My favorite Kentucky place misunderstood!

Many people think that all of Kentucky is mountains, but nothing could be farther from the truth.  I grew up in western Kentucky so I have rarely been to the eastern and mountainous part of the state.  My favorite Kentucky place is on a hill but it is not in the mountains, and the beauty of the campus is well worth the visit.

The opportunities to learn and grow at the university are many.  The arts programs as well as sports are all intrinsic parts of this vibrant university.  I sang my first opera here and will always go home to WKU and support it!
