Lesson I Learned From Performing Opera

Learning something new is hard, knowing it is easy.

Singing opera requires quite a few unique skills, and one of them is the ability to memorize a lot of music and text in foreign languages. The amount of time it takes to learn a role in an opera can be anywhere from a couple of months to years.

However, once you have it memorized it is as easy as saying your name. That is what mastering anything new is like, making something easy that at one time seemed impossible.

Whenever you are faced with learning something new keep in mind how great it is going to be when you have mastered it. Success is no mystery, it isn’t some hidden formula, it is simply working on something consistently, repeatedly and over an extended period of time that brings it to you.

You can do this. You can be one of the best. You can win. Nobody can win for you, and you wouldn’t want them to. Don’t leave your success to someone else to achieve, it is your victory you are working for. Master it and it is yours.
