Living on Purpose: The meaning of everything you do.

Give meaning to your life by doing things with a purpose

I’ll admit I have been doing a lot of things out of a certain actionism  (not a word) that has produced nothing much of value to myself or the world. I have had to ask myself the question ”What am I doing?”

I have discovered that…

”You can be doing a lot but get very little done.”

The reason for this is a lack of purpose for the actions we take. In order for actions to result in any kind of success it is necessary to do those actions directed toward getting a certain result, otherwise it is just plain senseless.

I have been thinking about my websites and my blogs and what my own mission in the world is. What is the purpose behind these sites and behind what I am doing.

In addition if I don’t know what the result is going to be how can I articulate it so that others can understand what it is I am doing? Of course, they can’t and neither can the ”universe” help you out much either.

In writing the book Boredom to Brilliance I outlined the artistic process, the challenges related to having a mission and some ways to inspire yourself to get you past the hard times. One afternoon after a weekend workshop I was asked why I had been so hesitant to present my book Boredom to Brilliance in seminar and workshop forms. I remember answering, ”Because I don’t know what to tell people that can make them a fortune.”

In essence the entire premise of my book was that a person can transform their lives, reach their financial dreams and live a fulfilling life if they would read my book and apply the lessons taught in it.  Basically, it is a ”How to monetize your art or mission.” without the monetizing part being explained, I just knew that this is basically what successful people do.

But, I didn’t have a design for it. I didn’t have a purpose behind it. My book, my websites, my blogs, videos and audios are all based on representing some ideas, but other than that they are really rather pointless. No result can come from it, because no purpose was given to it, and if my thesis is going to have any plausibility at all it is going to lie in having the purposes of growing an audience base, creating a dialogue to it, selling things to this audience and servicing the sale afterwards.

So, now, I am in the process of rebuilding everything with a purpose in mind. It is a weaving of elements together to create something that makes sense for me and for the customer, which is to lead by example and make this possible.

The easy part is making things complicated, the hard part is keeping it simple and allowing the project to bear fruit.
